On this video I read seven of my poems in English. I have named my comparable Finnish poems Jutturunoja, literally Story Poems. This translation misleads because these poems are more like down to earth shots than stories. The nearest English equivalent for jutturuno could be anecdote verse even though all of them are not exactly the jokes. Short they all are and they including “a trick”. In spite of this genre which is very typical for the Karelian folklore verses I have translated only one verse from Finnish into English. Hulluttelu verse has got the name Fooling Around. We also call someone an asshole if he/she is a shit head. Where Finnish and English habits and/or sayings disagree with one another I have turned to the Northern American culture. It is quite-well introduced to Western world via television. I have also spent quite some time in Florida where my parents and siblings immigrated to in 1974.

Need in Concrete is a great reflection of life these days ~ to me it shows the weak side of human nature, yet knowing this it is also possible to extract the best parts of human nature as well. The other poems are just great ~ made great by listening to your voice, which has a great cadence and tone. Really enjoyed this ~ wish you a great holiday season.
