If this were the other way round we would make love (read: to take care of your existing neighbours) and not babies because we are already too many for this planet. But surprisingly we thinking with the emotions and brains are just for justify our feelings and wants. The best I have heard so far is that there will be no lack in food as we can always start cultivating flies and other insects. The farming will be a success even earth doesn’t grow just much anymore. Luckily this person, who I cite here, doesn’t belong to my friends. I couldn’t take him everyday even for the million Euros a year.

The final trigger for this post was the debate on MP Olli Immonen’s FB Wall comment last Saturday. He writes:

I’m dreaming of a strong, brave nation that will defeat this nightmare called multiculturalism. This ugly bubble that our enemies live in, will soon enough burst into a million little pieces. Our lives are entwined in a very harsh times. These are the days, that will forever leave a mark on our nations future. I have strong belief in my fellow fighters. We will fight until the end for our homeland and one true Finnish nation. The victory will be ours.

There is no doubt about that he has used too much his heart and thought too little while writing this. Then, what about those who judge Immonen? They are not better than the one they are pointing out but sweeping the crumbs (the immigrations problem) under the carpet by announcing noble ideas of humanity and equality and brotherhood. In spite of their sanctimony no country in this world is able to take immigrants without controlling the migration. The left wing politicians who have attacked furiously against Immonen have fight against the capitalism in their political protocol and speeches for more than 100 years. Now they are critisising the same lyrical speech they use themselves.

The real issue here is that we are too many on earth. Moreover we are using resources like there weren’t a day after this. This way of life is impoverishing this planet and people are running away from the poorest countries. Of course among refuses are adventures but the distress is a real thing and growing every day most likely to the point of chaos. The globalism is a real time bomb but it is giving almost nothing for the most of us. It is true that China is capable of manufacturing products in cheap way but it causes unemployment in the western countries without saying how much transporting products pollutes air and use the oil.

The human kind is on the edge of the knife. Does it keep on denying the facts to the end of the times or do we pull ourselves together. The local food culture and exchange economy are in question. The wealth countries must help poorer countries to make the localism possible. The birth control is not an option but the imperative necessity. The tourism is not possible as long as it uses oil. Many of you might ask whether that kind of life is possible but to them I will answer what else we can do if we like to next generations to live here. Foretelling is impossible but better be sure than sorry. The less we are the more earth will love us.

All the best to all of us as we will need it!

      Hi,
      Thank you for commenting.
I hope that the humankind finds the way out of the population overgrowth. The aging is not an issue in the poor countries which constitute the majority of the countries on this planet. Reasons for overgrowth are in the culture of these countries. In the poor countries people do babies because they want to protect their old ages with children and grandchildren. The religions are also against the birth control. On the other hand the way we waste the natural resources the half of us would be too much.

I have seen that there is a problem. Each and everyone are inviting the reasons why anything can’t be done instead of finding some kind of solution. This is what I mean when I say that people think with their heart. Most likely there will be a sad end for us humans. We won’t see it but those who are children at the moment may live long enough to see the horrible destruction. I have also thought that a human has reached its highest possible level as all spices once done. The Neanderthal man didn’t find means to win the sudden cold and homo sapiens. They had their own culture and it didn’t adjust to the new factors. Our culture seems to be unable to adjust to the truth that some of the natural recourses will not last forever and some of them don’t recur as fast as they are used. It is simple too much for our talents. If it weren’t we would do something rational instead of finding excuses. There is nothing good for letting life die out from earth. It can’t be in anyone’s interests.

To this point I have thought that we are too selfish to open our eyes but perhaps our eyes are incapable of seeing things rationally. It is too much for our biological stage of development. It is very likely that things started to go in the wrong direction when we leave the nature and started to build up villages and cities. We did well when we lived in the small groups because we could control what was going on around us. Alfa males served us and we were able to have our eyes on them. Nowadays the leader may run people who he or she ever haven’t seen and won’t see. Even though we live mostly in cities without seeing our leaders among globally economy we value things like we were live in the troops. We are only interested in own family and local culture. When things grow bigger we just don’t take it in but keep on talking whatsoever that our state and standards won’t change. In this time we should be real individuals of the whole world in order to see things in their right prospect. The global issue can’t be take in no other way than globally. When the reality is grown this big we should be able to grow big too, but we don’t do it.

If you wonder why I published my post when I’m thinking this way, I can tell you that somewhere in the bottom of my heart I still hope that we could manage to find solution and safe us from ourselves. This is impossible if we keep on finding the excuses. Localism is not a bad thing but in order to have it we should first solve out the global issues. I hope this makes some sense to all of you who reads this reply.

All the best to you my friend

It seems we humans have always been on the knifes edge, but these days we are walking closer and closer to that final point where eventually it ends ~ this is a problem that grows and grows, and education is the key. Taking care of the planet means understanding it and then taking care of ourselves…I hope we (politicians eventually) have the time to figure it out and begin making strides in working together for an educated world. Great post and great writing!

You underline that politicians eventually concentrate on our future. I agree with you and that’s why I wrote this post. There are too much empty words like we weren’t in charge here at all. Let’s hope better time for us humans and thus better times for flora and fauna and the planet itself.

Maaseudun romahdus panisi kaupunkejakin kontalleen. Ehkä Jörn Donner oli kaukonäköinen kehottaessaan Torniossa vuosikymmeniä sitten lukiolaispoikia muuttamaan Helsingin seudulle.

Vegaanius vaikuttaisi merkittävästi Suomen mahdollisuuksia irrottautumista globaaleista kahleista, koska Suomen maatalous ei kykenisi tuottamaan riittävästi suomalaisille kasvisravintoa. Suomi tarvitsee ruuan tuontia.

      Hi,
It’s true and much more earlier the Bible has predicted the end of the world. Now we see with our plain eyes, how we are about to fill the world with humans and run out resources, but what we are going to do. Are we going to do something or not?

Such thought-provoking words you’ve written here! I especially love, “he has used too much his heart, and thought too little while writing . . .” And also love how you balanced this with the warning that those who attack the writer sanctimoniously do nothing to solve any of the problems humankind is facing.

I am happy that my words have not totally fallen on deaf ears but the most of the times I feel that I am just wasting my time. People don’t want to be drawn out from their dream world. For some time now I have liked to give up and just admit that people are not capable of seeing what is happening all around them due to our biological qualities and our culture which is not built up to face anything bigger than one country. And to be honest, even a national country is the most of the times too big unit.

As I have told many times, the mankind lost the course when it left the nature and stopped living in decent sized groups where everything was open to everyone. Of course, each and every herd has the hierarchies but that served the whole group. When any of the group members didn’t be able to stand on his/her rung of the ladder that individual placed by the other one. It didn’t mean that he/she were a loser like it is nowadays, but just took the other responsibilities.

I see that the only chance we have here is to be localized in the smaller groups without forgetting our local cultures. Some people are seeing this some short of the racism. The truth is anyway that humans are small group animals and things go well when there is the immediate contact between all the members of the herd. When the leaders loose the contact with the herds they lead they become blind. They start to see things by speculating them and this never work because we can’t get to anyone’s head we have to talk to one another. In addition to this the human populations must dramatically dropped down even though we learn to be greener.

The small families are not possible without the decent social welfare system because the lack of it increases the birth. People get children in order to safe their old ages. But the direction is the opposite. The stock owners and politicians keep on telling us that the globalism is the only chance to survive and without specializing any country won’t be able to compete economically. The competitiveness requires low taxes which mean that the social benefits must cut down. This works of course for a while, exactly as long as we have nature resources to do that. When they have wasted till the end we don’t compete but fight against each other. That moment is not so far away.

Take care of yourself and if you are worried about how the mankind and all living creatures will survive please spread the word: we won’t survive if we don’t take care of next to us. It is the nature of all primates.

I completely agree. Do you ever ask why everything gets shipped to China or other cheap labor countries? We don’t make these decisions, the huge multi-billion companies do and the 1% of those who hold all the financials of the planet do since the greed manages the Earth, not human love, not understanding of nature. It’s the mainstream propaganda which makes people believe that things are fine as long as they have bought a house and can somehow survive … on a budget. The main population gets to say their word only in the way of either consuming something or refusing to do so. Cheap products and cheapness as such is promoted in all possible ways, that generally destroys the culture, the craftsmanship, the need for something more than daily stomach stuffing and daily TV show. It’s going in an awfully wrong direction and we are made to sink down together with this ship which is called globalization. I wish kids would grow up with knowing love, not competing continuously for best looks, best performance, best … you name it. The purpose of an individual life is trashed and most people think that the only reason one lives for is following celebrities’ lives meanwhile forgetting to live their own. What causes this? Mostly greed and attempt to have power. The reality is so shocking that one has to even wonder how come that technical development took over the brain development? The only form of development and progress manifests as highly functional extremely advanced devices like phones, robots, computer assisted devices, automated systems for manufacture, automated machine based assistance in any field of life. People lose jobs, people lose chance to participate and we are turning into lonely attachments to our mobile devices.
Thanks for the great thoughts generating post!

I am happy that you call a spade a spade.
Parliaments could protect the home production with the laws. In Finland this was the case only about 20 years ago. Then politicians in all political parties made people believe that the European Union and Global Free Trade is the only way to survive in the world. The truth is that our economy has now in worse condition than before the EU. Instead of admitting the mistake politicians and economists have now a new mantra: wages, taxes and social benefits are too high in Finland and that’s why our economical competitiveness is weak. When they are on the lower level we will be winners in the global competition.

Every day the newspapers and television are blaming people for the lack of enterprising. Yesterday one afternoon paper wrote about a teenage boy who has employed himself by picking up the 350 kilos blue berries in the summer. There is some kind of Oscar prize for the best berry picker. Even our President mentioned that 14 years old boy on the Facebook. This is said to be a positive example but I see it as a sign of brainwash. How on earth the picking up the berries can give work all the people who are out of work in our country. Our unemployment rate is 8 percent, but the real figure is much higher. Here we have a really tragicomic story which covers all the real reasons of our poor success. If all the money is running out of the country because factories are abroad, our, the common men, enterprising won’t do any good. We cannot turn into factories and bring back the money which has gone from our country even we would be ready to work without wages. We have a cold winter time in Finland and because of that our work can never be as cheap as in the warm countries.

My suggestion for those, who are granting the Berry Picker Oscar, is this: in the future, please give it to that enterprising fellow who breeds the winter blue berry and people out of work can pick up berries years around. I foretell that our forest will be overpopulated. 😉 😉 😉
      Take care
