Alone – Один – Sam

Alone

I am sitting in a cafe with a book in my hand.
I see everything, and I can do everything
But no one taught me to know you.
Perhaps that is why I am crying alone.

The unconfessed confusion of the Book-learned

Один

Я сижу в кафе книга в руке.
Я вижу все, я все умею,
А никто же меня не учил знать тебя.
Возможно, поэтому я плачу один.

Sam

Siedzę w kawiarni z książką w ręku.
Widzę wszystko, mogę wszystko
Ale nikt mnie nie nauczył poznać ciebie.
Być może dlatego płaczę sam.

About Yelling Rosa

I am retired. In my spare time I read, write, play the guitar and hike. I have published three verse books in Finnish and recorded my songs. You can listen to them on YouTube. I have translated some of my poems on Yelling Rosa's Weblog. I also like to watch movies. Olen kiinnostunut lukemisesta, kirjoittamisesta, kitaransoitosta ja luonnossa vaeltamisesta. Olen julkaissut kolme runokirjaa ja laulujani on äänitteillä. Voit lukea runojani Yelling Rosan kotisivuilta ja kuunnella laulujani YouTubessa. Olen elokuvafriikki.

  8. So much said, in so few words. Well done!
I see the “you” as speaking of God. Until we know Him, it doesn’t matter what else we can do, our lives are going to have a God-shaped void.

An unrelated question – does Finnish bear some resemblance to Russian in characters and words? Long long time back in school we learnt some basic Russian for a few weeks. Though I really don’t remember much now, your characters seem somewhat familiar.

      Thank you for commenting.
Finnish belongs to the Finno-Ugric family of languages. It is not even a member of Indo-European languages, like Russian and English. We have Latin letters.

      Fenno-Ugrian people

Finns or Finnish people (Finnish: suomalaiset) are a Finnic ethnic group native to Finland.
Finns are traditionally divided into smaller regional groups that span several countries adjacent to Finland, both those who are native to these countries as well as those who have resettled. Also, some of these may be classified as separate ethnic groups, rather than subgroups of Finns. These include the Kvens and Forest Finns in Norway, the Tornedalians in Sweden, and the Ingrian Finns in Russia.

I hope this gives you the idea. My family comes from Karelia since 1945 belonged to Russian. Read more about Karelia, the heart of historic Finland.

  10. Lovely blog visit with you today and impressive in several languages. My husband and I visited Helsinki last month and loved the experience. We now enjoy sea buckthorn juice each morning and lingonberries. All the boats on the water were beautiful. Thanks.

  12. I ordered some cloudberry preserves and some cloudberry powder to get a taste. Preserves are tasty and sweeter than I thought. They were made in Sweden and shipped via Amazon. Imagine what can be done today with technology. The world has become smaller. Thank you for telling me about those berries. Maybe I can actually taste some fresh!
