Once I Was Beautiful

Cut Down Mode of Art

If I were Vincent van Gogh today,

I wouldn’t need even one ear.

The acquisitiveness is packed the art

Into the shape of porcelain design

That is out of reach of poor

People’s hearing.

Once I was Beautifule by Yelling Rosa 2011

Olin minäkin kerran kaunis – Once I Was Beautiful © Yelling Rosa 2011

He said to me “Once I was beautiful drawing was a distressed one. You shouldn’t upload it to your blog.” I was a law-abiding and did what he said.
Tonight I watched the television document on Irish painter Francis Bacon. He gave one fucking damn to fine aesthetic folks. “Go ahead ugly little creature and distress people around the world,” I say now.

About Yelling Rosa

I am retired. In my spare time I read, write, play the guitar and hike. I have published three verse books in Finnish and recorded my songs. You can listen to them on YouTube. I have translated some of my poems on Yelling Rosa's Weblog. I also like to watch movies. Olen kiinnostunut lukemisesta, kirjoittamisesta, kitaransoitosta ja luonnossa vaeltamisesta. Olen julkaissut kolme runokirjaa ja laulujani on äänitteillä. Voit lukea runojani Yelling Rosan kotisivuilta ja kuunnella laulujani YouTubessa. Olen elokuvafriikki.

  2. I find that a great drawing and, yes, art (or for that matter: opinions) should never be stifled, and certainly not by the maker.

  3. Could it be that art is expensive to keep the poor and low-income people away?

Ugly and distressed? What is “ugly” is the mood being show, in my eyes. I’ve felt that way.

  7. Loved the writing and the art! But I have to say that native peoples, probably all we would consider poor by modern day standards made fantastic art, and also what about the cave paintings and other arts. So yes, this is true of contemporary art, but even today the most primitive people still create their own art, and they are quite happy with it too.

Reminds me of something like Picasso and yes, if you want to post it you should. People often dislike the things they have no ability to do or those they do not understand. I commend you!

YES! and bravo let’s see the “not beautiful”. A few years ago I went to an exhibition of Francis Bacon at the Tate. It was the most powerful art work I have ever seen.Ever! It had a real physical impact on me. I wanted to yell or to shout to release the feeling in my chest as I looked at the images. Art needs to be more than just what is pleasant on Hallmark greeting cards. So good for you.
