I took these summer photos in years 2011 to 2014 with my Sony Cyber Shot, 10 mega pixels. At the moment we have still some snow on the ground here in Southern Lapland and The Tornio River looks like it did last December, cp. photo below.
Beautiful post… I love the photographs, Yelling Rosa… All the very best to you. Aquileana 😀

Thank you,
I am amazing how patient my ladybird was. Perhaps she knew that 10 mega pixels is not much for macros. Bees were a little bit more vivacious, but good fellows alto together. I took the picture of The Alatornio Church in December. There was humidity in the air and the failure of my camera was good for the result. I never could have found such a filter from any Photo Editing software.
Take care and good snapshots

Thank you David,
Summer has never left us. The ice cover breaks at the beginning of May with the awful blast. The flood follows the explosion. Usually it doesn’t make large damages but every now the water surface rises too much. The first week of the June the nature is green and the sun shines almost all the time. This Sunday the sun rose here 05:30 and will go down 21:16. The length of the day is already 15 h 46 min.
Take care and have a nice Sunday 🙂

Yelling Rosa, Your photographs are stunningly beautiful. I didn’t realize that you are in Lapland, such an exotic place to me. When I was a child, I had a favorite story book about Lapland and I remember day-dreaming about your country which I thought was filled with charming little children wearing sweaters and scarfs decorated with snowflakes and reindeer designs. They lived in cozy, warm houses and had reindeer for pets. Well, I am still interested in Lapland and loved to see these well-taken photographs. I see we share some common plants which we have here in the middle of the United States. But, that view of the Alatornio Church, is the exotic cold land of my childhood imagination. Very, very beautiful. I once lived in a place that had Spring arrive as dramatically as you describe above. My goodness, daylight of almost 16 hours. What an incredible land. More pictures, please.

Thank you very much for sending such a nice comment. I live in the southwest corner of the Lapland and the magic Lapland started about one hundred kilometers from here to the north. Of course this is nothing like in the Southern Finland but we have still quite tall trees but them getting shorter soon when you go to the north. The Arctic Pole is the border where the real Lapland starts. Also plants turn into the small size and many flowers you can see here in Tornio don’t exist in the Upper (real) Lapland.
People don’t keep reindeers for pets. They live in wild and are gathered only when it’s the separation time of reindeer. I don’t have pictures from the upper Lapland but you can google them and I am sure you will find a lot of them on Internet. Perhaps some sunny day I have a change to go to that magic land with the good camera. On the other hand the nature is also here beautiful and differs from the Southern Finland. For example, we have cloudberries and roedeers. Lapland spreads itself on the four countries, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russian.
Next summer I try to ride on my bicycle again here in Southern Lapland (mythology and culturally: Deep North).
Take care

A beautiful and colourful post. I see from comments above that Finland still has snow and ice around. I’m sure spring can’t be far away now, though. You’ll soon be back to those lovely colours, as well as the ladybirds and bees.

Thank you for the comment. Many spices are disappearing from this planet. It is a sad thing that it doesn’t stop us to think where we will end up. I have tried to speak for the nature, including humans, but nobody feels bad times coming. I have come to conclusion that humans are not able to find the solution. Perhaps this all, technique and globalism, came so fast, that our genetic evolution has dropped from the sledge. Practically we are living in the Iron Age. The only hope is that the inevitable collapse with the reality doesn’t make this planet incapable of living.
I have decided that I stop carrying water into the empty well, as we say here in Finland, when it is useless to try to make changes. Perhaps I might touch up the global warming in my poems like I was telling about the metro journey where things just happen and a poet writes them down.
In spite of this, let’s try to enjoy ourselves again when we walk in the summer meadow. The positive mind is our last weapon. Let’s hope it works.
Take care

I thank you very much for your deep thoughts. Your worries are also those of many people, I’m sure, but we are to spoilt to make changes!! Some time ago I read ” The Revenge of Gaia” by James Lovelock and I’m quite sure that Gaia or the earth will do what is necessary to survive! Don’t give up hope and we should all try to do our best with small things and enjoy ourselves with walks in the woods without using means of transport:) Very best regards

Last week the ice cover broke in the river but there are still small ice floes coming from Lake Torne which is located in Sweden some hundred kilometers from the place I live. You are able to see snow still in the shadows of trees but don’t worry summer will always come here too and it can be quite hot too.
Take care and nice fashion times
